Buchanan Family Legacy Room

The Buchanan Family Reading Room is now open on the fourth floor of the Library. This room is part of the Library's Family Legacy Project. The room was dedicated in October 2008 by MTSU President Sidney McPhee, to honor 1940 graduate and 1986 Nobel Laureate in Economics, James Buchanan and the Buchanan family's legacy to Tennessee and education.

It was made possible by a generous donation from the Buchanan family. President McPhee presented Dr. Buchanan an obelisk as a token of appreciation for his family's dedication to MTSU.

The room is appointed with leather chairs and ottomans to put your feet up and tables for individual or group study. There are also collections of Dr. Buchanan's books on display. The collection will continue to grow as the family donates more items. This room has quickly become a favorite of students looking for a quiet and comfy place to study.

Other family legacy rooms are available. Please Contact Us for more information.
