The Reserve Collection

Walker Library materials

Walker Library resources on reserve may include:

• Walker Library general collection books.
• Current and bound periodicals.
• Reference materials.
• Curriculum materials
• Electronic text material available through the library article databases.

Library materials that cannot be placed on Walker Library Reserve include:

• Materials housed in Special Collections.
• NetLibrary online books.
• Microtext materials.
• Books requested through Interlibrary Loan.
• Materials from the IMR collection or the Music Library.

Instructor's Personal Copies

Instructors’ personal copies can include any form of supplementary materials that the instructor is using for course instruction, including:

Photocopies of Copyrighted Materials

All copyright protected photocopied material will prominently display a notice warning that the material is protected by Copyright Law (Title 17 U.S. Code.) and must adhere to the Walker Library’s Copyright Guidelines.  Copyrighted materials include photocopies of chapters from books, articles from newspapers or periodicals, a poem, story, essay, or excerpt from a creative work.

Electronic Reserve Materials

All copyright protected electronic Reserves materials are subject to copyright restrictions and must adhere to the Walker Library’sCopyright Guidelines. Electronic Reserves materials include photocopied materials that have been electronically scanned, full-text resources from electronic databases, links to websites, and Word or PowerPoint documents uploaded and saved as PDF files.

Vanderbilt Library Access Cards

The Vanderbilt Library Access Cards allow MTSU students free access to the Vanderbilt Libraries. The cards are for access to the Libraries only and do not give the bearer any borrowing privileges. 

• Complete the appropriate Vanderbilt Library Access Card request form, available at the Walker Library Reference desk.  The request must be signed and dated by the Librarian
• The completed form and a valid MTSU ID must be presented to the Circulation Desk.
• If the card is lost, please notify the Walker Library Reserves department immediately at (615) 904-8544.
