Get Curious!

Choose a topic that interests you, something you'd like to know more about.

If you're having trouble coming up with a topic, try the following:

• Check a subject encyclopedia for ideas and concepts.
  
  
• Do some exploratory searches in an article index like ABI/Inform. Look at the abstracts or summaries of articles that interest you; they may give you ideas for topics. Also, look at their subject terms for possible keywords.
  
  
• Ask a librarian at the reference desk.

As an example, let's start with a very broad topic such as marketing.

You would find way too much information on this subject--enough to write several books! The topic is too broad.
