Types of Databases

The two types of databases that you will be using are: library catalog and article indexes.

Library catalogs organize all of the materials a library purchases. These include records for books, magazines, journals, newspapers, DVDs, sound recordings, images, etc.
Article indexes are used to identify articles on a topic.

Some article indexes such as Academic Search Premier are general or multidisciplinary.
ABI Inform
Many indexes specialize in a particular subject area, such as biology, education, or business.
infosearch
Library Search lets you search the contents of the MTSU library catalog and many article indexes at the same time.
