User Services Librarian -- Visual and Performing Arts (#131400)

The James E. Walker Library seeks a tenure-track faculty member to provide research assistance, instruction, and collection development for print and digital resources in the visual and performing arts, and build collaborations across campus.

This is a 12-month, tenure-track position. All library faculty are expected to meet promotion and tenure standards.

Reporting to the Head, User Services, the User Services Librarian for Visual and Performing Arts will:

  • Coordinate collection development and services for the programs of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts
  • Provide reference and instruction service in the arts as well as other general subject areas
  • Assist in integrating the Philip C. Howard collection of scores and recordings into the general library collection

Required Qualifications:

  • ALA accredited Master’s degree by the time of appointment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the bibliography of the arts as evidenced through coursework or experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with a variety of office and library technologies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team based environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in instructional or reference services in an academic library
  • Experience with visual or performance arts collections or services in a library
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant area of the visual or performing arts
