Walker Library's collection of over 3,400 LPs or "vinyl" (record albums) is located in the Listening/Viewing Center (LVC), located on the 2nd floor of the library, near the MakerSpace. These LPs may be checked out of the library for 2 weeks (and renewed once for an additional 2 weeks). You can also listen to them in the LVC at one of our two listening stations.
You may browse through the LPs on the shelves, but they are also included in the library's online catalog. To search for LPs, use this link or select the "Books & Media" tab on the library's home page:
For example, searching for "oratorio" and then limiting the results to "LP Collection" brings up a list of 61 LPs.
CDs in Walker Library are located in "closed stacks" (in other words, you can't browse through them) behind the 1st Floor Circulation Desk. Students can check out CDs for 2 weeks, and they may be renewed for an additional two week period. Ask for CDs by their call number at the Circulation Desk.
To search for CDs in Walker's online catalog, use this link or select the "Books & Media" tab on the library's home page:
For example, a search for "antiphon" with the search results narrowed to "Music Collection" and "Audio Disk" retrieves a list of 7 CDs.
Walker Library subscribes to several databases which provide streaming audio. These are listed, along with our streaming video databases, on the Listening/Viewing Center tab on this research guide.
