Walker Library is establishing a pool of applicants to fill part-time temporary librarian positions that work flexible hours, anywhere from a few to up to 20 hours per week. These positions report to the Reference/Instruction Team Leader and the Department Chair, User Services at Walker Library.
Responsibilities: Librarians provide in-depth library research assistance on campus/in-person, online (email, chat), and via phone. This service is offered during days, early evenings, and weekends. Service-related data reporting is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to provide general and specialized reference service in person, via email, chat, or phone.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn and use key resources including the library’s discovery service, catalog, research databases, and Springshare web applications.
• Knowledge of or ability to search in subject-specialized databases from a variety of vendors.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Evidence of ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant work experience in an academic, school, or public library.
Salary: Up to $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
