Only available at the Center for Popular Music reading room, Connect is Luminate's new next generation database that offers access to streaming and song sales data for 49 countries as well as aggregated global data and improved artist metadata like genre, alternate names, and what group an artist has been a member of. (For example, Madonna has been a member of Evita Film Cast and The Breakfast Club) It also allows users to view data in a variety of formats, including grids, bar charts, and pie charts.
Connect is similar to Music Connect but has a sleeker, easier-to-use interface. You can search by artist, album, or song by clicking the magnifying glass icon on the left of the home page or find different charts by clicking the numbered list icon.
Clicking on the bar graph icon takes you to the "Analysis" page (Industry Report in Music Connect), which has a big-picture view of music industry sales numbers and can be broken down by genres like rock, EDM, and country & folk.
The biggest difference between Connect and Music Connect is that Connect has music industry data for 49 different countries, and Music Connect only has data for the United States. Changing your location at the top of the screen changes the charts and analysis to that country's data. Also, if you scroll down to "Activity by Location" on an artist, album, or song page, you can compare streaming numbers and/or song sales from different countries.
All of this data can be saved in Excel or CSV format by clicking the ellipses next to each report.
