Library Research Assignments for Basic and Applied Sciences: Annotated Bibliography

Annotated Bibliography Concept

Students will use library resources to research their assigned topic by finding and evaluating a variety texts.

They will then create citations for the sources they find. For this citation, they will create annotations to describe their resources by synthesizing the argument, evaluating the credibility and accuracy of the information and source, and determining the usefulness of the source for a potential research project/paper.

The final step of the bibliography will be to reflect on the process as a piece of the student’s own research process, to think about the ways that the process can be useful in future research projects, and to understand why people publish and use annotated bibliographies in the discipline.
