Students will look through congressional bills to find a legislative issue that is related to their disciplines. They will research the case and the issue from all sides. They will then write a paper about whether they think it should have or should be passed and why. The paper should include the result of the bill, reasons to support their ideas, how that bill affects their disciplines, how it would affect them, and what other action they think should be taken. (Preferably, they will be working with a bill they were already somewhat familiar with).
This could be used in combination with the students writing bills of their own on a disciplinary issue to demonstrate transfer of knowledge.
