In conjunction with the University's centennial celebration in 2011, the Middle Tennessee State University Memory digital collection contains high quality photographs, memorabilia and other materials that document the critical role played by MTSU within the broader community during its first century.

James M. Buchanan Family Collection
This collection documents the family of James McGill Buchanan (1919- ), MTSU alumnus and 1986 winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics. His family has deep roots in Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee. His grandfather was John Price Buchanan, Governor of Tennessee from 1891 through 1893. Mr. Buchanan earned his B.S. at Middle Tennessee State Teachers College in 1940, followed by his M.A. in Economics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 1948. The collection honors an outstanding Tennessean, his academic career, and his family.

Cannon County, Tennessee Collection
This collection currently includes photographs of agricultural activities in Cannon County, TN that were taken by W.L. Clement, District Conservationist for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, and his assistants between the mid-1940s and mid-1970s.

Stones River Battlefield Historic Landscape Project
The Stones River Battlefield Historic Landscape Project documents the history of
people, land use, and nature in the Stones River Battlefield area. Of special
interest are the history of the post-Civil War racialized landscape; the many
ways in which the battle has been commemorated, from the construction of
Hazen Monument in 1863 to the establishment and development of Stones River
National Battlefield; and the increasing importance of the national park as a
protected area for native species in a crowded urban environment.

Cedar Glades Studies Collection
This collection reflects a partnership between Walker Library and the MTSU Center for Cedar Glade Studies; Cedar glades are an endangered ecosystem that are globally rare. These extremely rare habitats are found primarily in Middle Tennessee and a few localities in other southeastern states. The karst topography of the glade also supports an underlying cave network home to many extraordinary species. This digital collection documents historical research into the ecology of cedar glades and individual rare species found in the glades.

This database provides access to digital collections of primary sources (photos, letters, diaries, artifacts, etc.) that document the history of women in the United States. These diverse collections range from Ancestral Pueblo pottery to Katrina Thomas's photographs of ethnic weddings from the late 20th century.

- Volunteer Voices Collection
Volunteer Voices Tennessee's first statewide digital collection. Volunteer Voices began as an idea within Tenn-Share, a resource sharing consortium, to build a statewide network of primary resources that would be accessible to all. Volunteer Voices is Tennessee's statewide digitization program involving the state's archives, libraries, repositories, historic homes and museums. Its goals are to develop digital collections that document Tennessee's history and culture; facilitate use of these collections in K-16 classrooms and by the general public; and offer training opportunities for personnel to learn digitization standards and best practices.
