Services for Alumni and Visitors

What we become depends on what we read after all of the professors have finished with us." -Thomas Carlyle

You may not be taking classes, but you still have information needs. Whether you seek to further your career, learn more about a hobby, or help your child with homework, the James E. Walker Library at MTSU has the resources to help.

Borrowing Privileges

MTSU Alumni and community borrowers are eligible to borrow Walker Library materials by presenting an MTSU ID, a valid Tennessee Driver's License, or a valid state photo ID. See Borrowing Policies regarding alumni or community borrowers for borrowing limits and for more information on obtaining a borrower's card.

Computer Use and Printing

Guests, including Alumni, may obtain a guest login for computer use at the Service Desk on the 1st floor of the library. A printer/copier kiosk is located near Technology Services on the 1st floor. Black and white copies/prints are $.10 each, and color is $.40. Get help at the Technology Services desk after obtaining your login at the Service Desk.

Electronic Resources

Unrestricted in-house use of all library databases. Free off-campus access to the Tennessee Electronic Library for residents of Tennessee.

Reference Assistance

Receive academic and personal research assistance from librarians. Call or visit the reference desk, chat with or email a librarian by using the E-mail a Librarian form.

Visitor Parking

All visitors are required to obtain a parking permit from the Parking and Transportation Services Office at 205 City View Dr., or use the online pay by plate system. Visitor permits are $2.00 per day. The Raider Xpress shuttle serves the MTSU campus and travels between the Rutherford Lot and the Library when classes are in session. More information can be found at Visitor Parking and Transportation.

Library Giving Opportunities

As an alumnus who has benefited from an MTSU education, you can now help to strengthen the educational opportunity for a current student.

For information on other ways you can support library resources for student excellence, see the Walker Library Support page or call the library at (615) 898-2772.
