Sharon C. Parente received her B.A. in English and History from Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) and Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky.
As a member of the James E. Walker Library's User Services Department she serves as a Reference and Instruction and Distance Learning Services Librarian.
She is an active participant in Walker Library’s Embedded Librarian, Research Coach, Reference, Library Instruction, and Library Liaison programs.
She is professionally active at the state level through service to the Tennessee Library Association and regionally through the Southeastern Library Association. She is also a member of the American Library Association and its Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) divisions. She was the recipient of the Tennessee Library Association’s 2005 James E. Ward Library Instruction Award for significant contributions to library instruction in Tennessee, the 2016 TN eCampus Summer Academy Librarian Award, and received the Patriotic Employer Award in 2019.
