Digital Library for the Decorative Arts and Material Culture
Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record/Historic American Landscapes Survey, 1933-Present
Administered since 1933 through cooperative agreements with the National Park Service, the Library of Congress, and the private sector, ongoing programs of the National Park Service have recorded America's built environment in multiformat surveys comprising more than 556,900 measured drawings, large-format photographs, and written histories for more than 38,600 historic structures and sites dating from Pre-Columbian times to the twentieth century. This digital collection includes images of measured drawings, black-and-white photographs, color transparencies, photo captions, written history pages, and supplemental materials.

This database includes images and documents from the MTSU Center for Historic Preservation's major programs, such as the Tennessee Rural African American Church Project and the Tennessee Century Farms Program.

Access to maps of over 100 Tennessee towns and cities. Sanborn maps are valuable historical tools for urban specialists, social historians, architects, geographers, genealogists, local historians, planners, environmentalists and anyone who wants to learn about the history, growth, and development of American cities, towns, and neighborhoods. They are large-scale plans containing data that can be used to estimate the potential risk for urban structures. This includes information such as the outline of each building, the size, shape and construction materials, heights, and function of structures, location of windows and doors. The maps also give street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers.
