Fostering institutional awareness of copyright: some practical strategies

I regularly find myself trapped between my desire to push the grey area of copyright law in order to provide access and my role as a purveyor of best practice. This cognitive dissonance causes discomfort and often prevents librarians from engaging in the tough conversations that will ultimately protect our institutions and our users. In this column, I wrestle with some of the nuanced causes of copyright discomfort that I’ve encountered and discuss some practical strategies for making headway on these issues."
