Located in the Bragg Media and Entertainment Building, the Center for Popular Music (CPM) is a research center devoted to the study of American popular and vernacular music. The Center was founded in 1985 as a Center of Excellence recognized by the State of Tennessee.
The Center for Popular Music's archive has over one million items related to American vernacular music traditions, in formats including sound recordings, sheet music, song books, video recordings, manuscripts, photographs, periodicals, posters, and catalogs. The CPM's reading room features a reference collection of scholarly books, offers access to popular music-related databases, and maintains periodical subscriptions covering a wide range of scholarly, professional, and consumer publications.
All the resources located at the Center for Popular Music are accessible to students, faculty, staff, community members, and researchers.
