Open Educational Resources (OER)

Instructions for Reporting OER Adoptions to the Bookstore:

It's important to submit OER adoptions to the bookstore even though no course materials are required to be purchased. This helps students know there are zero-textbook costs for the course and helps the university track OER usage.

First, log into the Barnes & Noble Adoption and Insights Portal (AIP) and select your course.

Next, select "I'm not using any materials for this class" and click "Yes" to "Are you using Open Education Resources (OER)?".

Adding a note about free editions:

If you are using a free, online textbook but there is also a print option available for purchase at the bookstore, please add a note in the bookstore portal to let students know about the free version. Notes can be added directly within the portal or by contacting the bookstore. The note will appear alongside the book listing on the bookstore website. Sample note: "This book is available as a free version online. Please see your instructor for additional information."

Bookstore contacts:

For help with reporting adoptions or adding notes, please contact Donna Loy, the textbook manager, at dloy@bncollege.com.
