Collection Development and Management

About the Department

Walker Library's Collection Development and Management Department works with publishers and information industry companies, manages the library materials budget, and adds content and information resources to the library collection. Some of the work we are responsible for:

  • Negotiating license agreements with publishers and vendors
  • Activating access to electronic resources and troubleshooting access issues for on and off campus users
  • Communicating with faculty members and library liaisons for order processing
  • Assessing and evaluating the library collection
  • Acquiring, preserving, and providing access to rare materials

In addition to Collection Development and Management, the department is made up of 5 different units: Acquisitions, Cataloging, Collection Assessment, Continuing Resources, and Special Collections. Please see the department directory for contact information.
