Walker Library / Special Collections / Distilling, Fermenting, and Brewing Collection
Special Collections’ most recent collecting effort focuses broadly on acquiring books and other materials about fermentation, distilling, and brewing of alcoholic beverages. It encompasses materials on various historical, social, and cultural aspects in fermentation, distilling, and brewing, with particular reference to Tennessee. In acquiring items, we include books, pamphlets, and other artifacts on such subjects as the American temperance movement, Prohibition, viticulture, moonshining, rum smuggling, popular views of alcohol, and the like.
