The books in this pop-up collection accompany the current exhibit in Walker Library's Special Collections: "I may as well take one glass" Selections from the Distilling, Fermenting, and Brewing Collection. The collection focuses broadly on acquiring books and other materials about the fermentation, distilling, and brewing of alcoholic beverages. It encompasses materials on various historical, social, and cultural aspects with particular reference to Tennessee. In acquiring items, we include books, pamphlets, and cultural artifacts on such subjects as the American temperance movement, Prohibition, viticulture, moonshining, rum smuggling, popular views of alcohol, and the like.
