Search tips for books about films

Using the correct subject heading/ term can help find relevant material more effectively.

For example, "film history" is  the title of the class. However, subject headings used to find books  about "films" use the phrase motion pictures.   See the sample headings below.  You will find books if you type film history into the search box, but the results will be

  • motion pictures
  • motion pictures history
  • motion picture industry

Example to find books on the history of films: Enter terms into the search box
i.e. motion pictures history  then choose Subject
