Collection Development and Management

Information Resources Group

Formation

The Information Resources Group was formed in 2013.  Its members consist of librarians and staff from the Collection Development and Management Department and librarians from the Department of User Services.  Currently the IRG has 13 members.

Purpose

The role of the IRG is to make the critical decisions regarding information resources (usually in electronic format) that the Library provides for its various customers primarily to support research and the curriculum.  It is thus both a deliberative body and a decision making body.  The IRG discusses the acquisition of new information resources and if the need arises, evaluates existing information resources for continuation. The group deliberates the suitability of the Library’s physical holdings according to changing needs. The IRG makes decisions regarding the acquisition or continuation of information resources that come to its attention.
