Special Collections : Early Tennessee Imprints

Special Collections is the rare book facility for Walker Library. Its mission is to acquire, preserve, and provide access to valuable, unique, and fragile materials.

Collection Overview

The Early Tennessee Imprints Collection is a collection of books, pamphlets, and serials printed and published in the state between 1791 and 1866 – that is between the year the first printing press was established in the state at Rogersville and the first full year after the Civil War. Subjects covered include law, government documents, religion, medicine, and cultural life.
