Getting started

Some things to watch out for when you search for info on this topic

1.  Sometimes the term luso american is used instead of portuguese american.

2.  The Portuguese are not considered Hispanic, becasue they don't speak Spanish.

3.  If you are looking for infomation about immigrants from Portugal, be careful about those articles about portuguese speaking immigrants from Brazil or Cape Verde Islands.

Web sites

Many Portuguese settled in Hawaii.  Their pastries are famous especially the Malasadas from Leonard's bakery on the big island.
