Virtually every daily news and public affairs broadcast presented by CBS News on television since 1975 in complete verbatim transcripts. In addition, all available transcripts and transcript excerpts for hard news broadcasts for 1963-75. Television journalists represented in the collection include Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Morley Safer, Mike Wallace, Charles Kuralt, Roger Mudd, Ed Bradley. Special historical events are featured in the backfiles of the collection. The 1963 backfile, for example, contains The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy as Reported over the CBS News Television Network and includes the continuous coverage presented from Friday, November 22 to Monday, November 25, 1963.

    Edward R. Murrow, a pioneer in the mass media revolution, has been called the founding father of broadcast journalism.     Transcripts of NBC News' Meet the Press beginning with the first broadcast in 1957. The interviews provide a means of recapturing the perspectives that news personalities (the famous and the infamous) held on national and world affairs. Each microfiche in the collection contains one complete transcript. A chronology of programs is included for each calendar year. The cumulating chronology (on microfiche) lists the programs by date and provides the names and titles of individuals being interviewed.
